Additional Notes:

  • If your latest issued British passport is still valid or not expired for too long then it is a standard renewal. Click “NEXT” and proceed.
  • If your latest issued British passport was issued or expired a long time ago then it will be similar to a first-time passport application. It is still a ‘British Passport Renewal’ not a ‘First-time Passport Application’ because you have had a British passport before. Click “NEXT” and proceed.

Additional Notes:

  • If you have never had a British passport before then Click “NEXT” and proceed.
  • If you had a British passport which was issued or expired a long time ago then it will be similar to a first-time passport application. Re-select ‘British Passport Renewal’ above, because you have had a British passport before.
  • Special note for Applicants born in South Africa – First-time applications. ONLY a vault birth certificate of the applicant will be accepted if the applicant was born in South Africa. A vault birth certificate is a copy of the original registration form completed by the parents when a birth was registered. It is a photocopy of the original, stamped and signed by a Department of Home Affairs Officer (an applicant’s computer printed unabridged birth certificate will be accepted ONLY IF it was issued within 12 months of birth). All other first-time application certificates for parents and marriage certificates can be computer printed.

Additional Notes:

  • If a Lost, Stolen or Damaged passport is still valid or not expired for too long then it is a standard passport replacement. Click “NEXT” and proceed.
  • If a Lost, Stolen or Damaged passport was issued/expired a very long time ago then it will be similar to a first-time passport application. It is still a ‘Lost, Stolen or Damaged Passport Replacement’ not a ‘First-time Passport Application’ because you have had a passport before. Click “NEXT” and proceed.
